DIY: BLACK FLOWER CROWN

You don't want to go overboard on Halloween & you still want to look somewhat classy? Why don't you make yourself a beautiful flower crown? I know you can find them in many shops, but if you want an impressive one, you might have to pay more than you truly want to. Plus, you'll get bonus points because you did it yourself!

I promise, I'm not tricking (or am I? ;-)) you into anything and it won't take up a lot of your time. Just switch off the tv for an evening and get crafty, it'll make you feel calm and relaxed - a prefect way to end your day!

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • a big ribbon
  • plastic/fabric flowers
  • black spray paint
  • scissors
  • a sewing kit

HOW YOU DO IT:

It's seriously easy peasy. Spray paint the flowers black and let them dry for a few hours. Now you'll have enough time to prep some food, get that laundry & dishwashing done - good times, indeed! Put on your favorite podcast to get into the zone and light a candle to make things extra cosy. You can give your flowers another layer of paint in between, but I decided not to do that, since I liked the way bits of colors were still showing.
Now it's time to get crackin'! Cut pieces of flowers you'd like on your headpiece and make a nice composition. Sew each flower separate on the ribbon and don't forget to fit it regularly. You might find spots that need that extra umph - maybe a leaf here or there can spice things up. Don't worry if you're no a sewing queen, I'm not either! But here's a little secret: nobody will ever know! (since nobody will ever see the back of the ribbon, unless you show them... you naughty thing!) Just go with your gut - you're the master of your own creation!

And there you you have it; a beautiful flower headpiece made with your very own hands! I feel like I can join the 'American Horror Story' coven together with my scary twin sister, how about you?

Colour of the year 2018: Heart Wood

We’re surrounded with information every single moment of the day and we have more choices, expectations & demands than ever before. Living this uncertain life in the fast lane 24/7, makes us want to press pause every now and then and take a break from all this noise surrounding us.

Our home is exactly the place where we can do that – where we can unwind, collect & reflect on our (own) thoughts and truly be ourselves. This is exactly what the colour of the year 2018 by Levis – Heart Wood – represents: warmth of natural wood, which is the warmth and calm we look for in a welcome & uniquehome. Colour plays a very important role in our search to balance between the chaos and inner peace - a sense of harmony.

Offline is the new luxury

The accompanying Ambiance Trend Collection reinforces the same outlook. The pallet emphasizes the inviting character of the home, a place where we get together with friends and family. Comfort rules and the overload of technology gets pushed aside – Hello coziness!

Get inspired!

Also in love with the colour of the year 2018? Here are some of my favorite deco items that would totally match with your 'Heart Wood' dreams!

Don't let your magical travels fade

This summer we had a super exciting vacation planned to Senegal - together with my boyfriend's family. I'd never been outside of Europe - except America - so I didn't know what to expect whatsoever. Adventure garanteed!

Staying at the ‘Royal Decameron Baobab’ resort was pure bliss, although the contrast of the people living outside these ‘walls’ couldn’t have been bigger.
We decided quickly we wanted someone to guide us around, since we obviously didn’t have a clue where to start. Together we visited Ile de Gorée (House of Slaves), swam in Lac Rose, enoyed a wild jeep ride at the Paris-Dakar route, discovered the (fish)market and it’s remarkable smells,… & so much more! But the thing that I enjoyed the most was the super hospitable tribe we got to meet. They showed us around with everlasting smiles on their faces. The kids were very enthused to meet us and many laughters were shared when we grabbed our camera and we all took a selfie together - with the result to be seen in an instant. They sang songs for their strange visitors and learned us some crazy dance moves – a moment never to forget!

We shouldn't let these pictures & awesome moments just sit on your computer to be forgotten. That’s why I decided to make photoalbums of our adventures for me & fellow travellers, so we’d all be able to share our stories easily with friends and family. Why let these magical travels fade away? Be sure to check out the blog soon, since I'll be sharing my favorite pictures from our trip!
